transce I own the entire Moses Guest discography, but most of it is on CD. The reason I own this album on bandcamp (and not others) is because this CD was too damaged to make an accurate digital rip. This is a solid album but not one of my favorites, to be honest. Usually I will reach for Geniality of Morality for a harder sound or the 2002 self-title double album for a softer sound, depending on my mood. Favorite track: Right Down (live).

I Do Not Love You One time, there was a little rhyme Called the two of us, and we were cool We loved to hit the town And hang around in school What then happened? Well, I really do not know She was over there with a changed-up hair And I was walking alone back home Because she said, “I do not love you” And I said, “Don’t let that be true” And she said, “I do not love you” And I said, “Well then, what can I do?” She was right and I was wrong So I had to take up a tune I sit around with my head on the ground As she waves from her balloon So I must take a drink I must take a drink I must take a drink all night Come dawn, I’ll be so long gone You will lose your appetite

Colorado 04:37
Colorado Take a train, loco ride Through the rain down, up and down For the mountain; it’s a higher place to fly Well who am I? You hit the disco; dance ‘til two Take the el camino and a couple of friends with you You hit the city, and you’re floating beneath the lights You get the low-down, just for coming here The big ol’ man with the band giving money out The cellophane, take a train ride runaround You disappear for a year like a little mouse Life is good Life is good in a box out in Colorado… You lie down, like everybody You lie ‘round, like everyone You saw what you are – you’re everybody You saw what you are… ‘Cause you live with the steepness of gardens across your shoulders You saw what you are You hit the Kingpin half past three Stars crash gently on your sleeve It’s time to take jesus on a way one-way ride Heaven help him, just for coming here The big ol’ man with the band giving money out The cellophane, take a train ride runaround You disappear for a year like a little mouse Life is good Life is good in a box out in Colorado… Take a train

Burning Around the Sun How can the words out my mouth Let you know what I mean When everything I start to say Stumbles into a dream Everyone I’ve come to know Is like a rabbit on the run Never know who might stop by Burnin' around the sun You go out running around because You wake up lying down You leave out from the house To see what you are To see what you’re trying to do Do what you try to get through But what’s the point of it Might as well slow down Because the bad day’s coming on its own It’s going to find you all alone And you’ll be one tight brother on the fly

Alabama 05:21
Alabama They say shit about you in Alabama Someone like to get crushed by stones Have mercy, momma I’m just here for burnin’ out in the night To celebrate my Saturday on Sunday For the rest of my life How radical I’m going to die You got your money And you stick your hands in the only child Rose Alabama – she’s water-tight To New York City For burnin’ out in the night To celebrate her Saturday on Sunday For the rest of her life How radical She’s going to die She got that money And she sticks her hands in the only child who… Who’s ever getting up again…

Cover Me 02:58
Cover Me It’s another jerk-off situation. You’re my brother-why don’t you pass to me? Leave the light on; maybe you’ll find the shadows out. See them sending out from under your feet… to Cover Me It’s another jerk off fascination. There goes my brother again, falling out my dreams. Lie a smile on; all of the tongues are laid in stone, but Inside a rattle: you’re breaking the seams to… Cover Me Only love, whatever the combination, can Shake the mighty to breaking at their bones, So you come out fighting to make it to what you came for, but all that’s inviting has turned around and gone… to Cover Me It’s another jerk-off situation. There goes my brother again, falling out of my dreams. Lie a smile on; all of the tongues are laid in stone, but inside a rattle: you’re breaking the seams… to Cover Me.

Mountain 04:59
Mountain I see that it’s over now; everything is over. Maybe some other time; there might be another. So I’m walking this night alone, looking for a lover and a god, But it’s just another scenario, running for the cover, like a dog. Well if only I had known that on the way home I’d get a message from a wheel, I could have been sweeter when all I could think of was a label. So I called you up on the phone; I called you every single day that I was gone. And you called me when I got home; call me anytime on the phone. ‘Cause I run for the mountain – great divide. Mountain – yeah. I see that it’s over now; everything is over. Maybe some other time; there might be another. So I’m walking this night alone, looking for a lover and a god, But it’s just another scenario, running for the cover, like a dog. ‘Cause I run for the mountain – great divide. Mountain – yeah.

Right Down I was raised down in the southland Right down there upon the ground Yes the sun he was big man Shining down on my house So I climbed up to the northland To see if what I said was true And I played in that there big band But I could not get it out to you I have never seen such a big house But I always dreamed that I’d find it Woke this morning, baby, and I broke out I look around and I see that It’s right down on the ground So I crawled back to the homeland With my head upon my shoe But the sun is shining down on this man Got to tell him what he got to do Get the big shoes down I have never seen such a big house But I always dreamed that I’d find it Woke this morning, baby, and I broke out I look around and I see that It’s right down on the ground

Sand (live) 04:40
Sand The style is hot The eyes are faded And she is waiting There for you to come along My heart is jaded But my love is strong To be related Neverendingly tonight Get a solution for your epitaph Wide constitution is wandered here Gave me a locket with a photograph Sand in my pocket Sitting in the tree Watching for your happiness I put my hand inside your dress And wander off alone Falling down the stairs Dreaming of my brother’s home Lying to my mother As I look up from the ground The train is come The stage is shaking Your lips are breaking For the words to run along The wheel is running Right through the stone And in this going You and I will be alone Get a solution for your epitaph Wide constitution is wandered here Gave me a locket with a photograph Sand in my pocket

Fly (live) 06:27
Fly Sofa man settles on for the one Taking land, stealing out for the sun Free day for jacking off to nightfall She beats the weed to bone again And this notion fell from another man Who thought he was the only one Why don’t you give me seaside water Sharing your cup with me even in light Of my lobotomy, when I was chicken-tied You were the Maker’s Mark in my design ‘Cause I’m burning in scotch again I run down the waterhole Waking up paper-thin I walk on my knees to fly Shaking the tree of light I fall from the branches like A mouthful of broken words But that was tomorrow’s plan A fistful of dust to jam Out on the mountain for tonight Why don’t you give me seaside water Sharing your cup with me even in light Of my lobotomy, when I was chicken-tied You were the Maker’s Mark in my design ‘Cause I’m burning in scotch again I run down the waterhole Waking up paper-thin I walk on my knees to fly
